Orchometer shown in case
The Seager Orchometer (SO) is an ideal measuring device for obtaining, in a clinical situation, testicular size and volume in both adult and pediatric urology and andrology. It significantly reduces many of the disadvantages experienced with other testicular measuring devices. Physicians can have clinical confidence in utilization of this device in male patients of all ages. Recent medical emphasis on male andrology has emphasized a long standing need in clinical medicine for a tool to accurately and conveniently measure testicular size. We are pleased to announce the introduction of such a device for the use by both adult and pediatric clinicians and researchers.
Testicular length measurement
Much published human and animal data have shown the direct relationship of teticular size and volume to sperm count and semen quality, A unique teticular volume chart in cubic centimeters is impreinted on the back of each orchometer. Once the testicular lenght and width have been obtained, the volume can be read from this table. This volume is for the normal, adutl male. A complete extended volume chart is available for testicular sizes for all ages. Utilizing a computer calculated formula, the volume for each testicle is deteremined.

Testicular width measurements are made by gently extending the testicle, and the jaws reduced until the scrotal skin adjacent to the testicle is lightly touched. This testicular width measurement is very repeatable and accurate. The physician may wish to use it time and time again in clinical practice. Testicular length is measured in a similar fashion. These measurements are essential in adult and pediatric clinics to record testicular growth post orchiopexy and suspected variocele.

The SO can be used to determine the size of a single testicle so that that prior to surgery this size can be more closely matched with a prosthetic testicle. Optional individual orchometer shields can be utilized which are disposed of after use. An added advantage of the Orchometer is its use for the measurement of penile size and volume both in tumescence and detumescence for numerous diagnostic evaluations, e.g. evaluation of the effect of penile injectable or vacuum pump devices to obtain an erection, or measurment of penile size in pediatric clinics for documentation of growth patterns or measurement of penile size prior to fitting a penile prosthetic device.
